LETS - better than money?
Before there was money, there was barter! LETS is a community barter scheme bringing people together to help each other in an organised way. It's based on a local currency we call "Lets".

LETS works like this
Members receive a Directory of skills, goods and services being offered and requested by other members. They contact each other, agree a price (in Lets) and pay with special LETS cheques. No real money needed!

LETS help people help each other
Do you need a hand in the garden? A bit of DIY? A lift somewhere? Would you like to learn new skills - or share your expertise with others? You'll find hundreds of Offers and Requests in the LETS Directory, from Aromatherapy, Babysitting or Cycle repair to Word-processing, Xmas puddings or Yoga. There is no obligation, you can use the scheme as much or little as you like.

LETS creates real wealth
Unlike money, you don't need to earn Lets before you spend them, and no interest is charged! Every time another member does you a favour or sells you something, you create wealth for them within the system, and you need only help others in ways convenient to you. LETS is fun!

There are regular LETS meetings and socials where members can get together to exchange ideas, socialise, trade spare items, etc. These are a great way to meet other members and make new friends.

LETS helps develop skills
LETS brings people together to share their skills, experience and expertise, opening up informal training opportunities to all. Many LETS members offer tuition and training in languages, practical and technical skills, and leisure pursuits.

LETS helps the environment
LETS operates outside the money system, creating real wealth which stays in the local community, and also encourages recycling of unneeded items. There are now hundreds of local LETS schemes in the UK, and thousands worldwide!

LETS is for everyone.
We have members from (almost) 9 to 90, from all walks of life, throughout the Sutton area - some of your neighbours may already be members. Clubs, charities and small businesses can also join. Sutton LETS is run by members for members, and is totally non profit making.

.and it doesn't cost much!
Members (whether single, couple or family) all pay just £4 a year (less if joining mid year) to cover costs of Directories, newsletters, mailing, etc. Using LETS just once will more than repay that!
